A CT scan can be performed of any part of the body that your doctor wishes to see, to help in diagnosis of a problem, to better define a known problem or to monitor for a change.

Depending upon the clinical history it may be recommended that you have an injection of IV contrast.

You will be positioned feet first on your back with your arms above your head and your legs and abdomen will pass through the scanner.

Before your Scan

Nothing to eat for 2 hours before the procedure. Clear fluids are encouraged.  You may need to drink 1 litre of water or another solution for 30 minutes before the scan when you arrive.
