A CT scan can be performed of any part of the body that your doctor wishes to see, to help in diagnosis of a problem, to better define a known problem or to monitor for a change.
Depending upon the clinical history it may be recommended that you have an injection of IV contrast.
You will be positioned feet first on your back with your arms above your head and your legs and abdomen will pass through the scanner.
Before your Scan
Nothing to eat for 2 hours before the procedure. Clear fluids are encouraged. Drink 600-750mls water one hour before appointment time, not essential to hold in bladder but preferable if able to do so.
